Horizons at SRES Intern Program Overview
Horizons offers high school juniors and seniors or college students an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of under-served children in the classroom. Interns will assist Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers in the classroom and will participate in Horizons daily activities. Intern progress will be monitored by a mentor teacher and summarized in an end of program evaluation. At the end of their time with Horizons, interns will be asked to provide a written summary including a brief personal reflection regarding their experience at Horizons.
The 2018 summer program runs from June 13th – July 19th. Interns must be able to commit to a daily 8:00am-3:30pm schedule and daily assignment(s) for a minimum of three consecutive weeks during the program. Volunteering for Horizons is a serious commitment that should be met with a sense of professionalism and dedication. There will be a preliminary review in which candidates are selected to interview with Horizons staff. The final decision for interns will be made in April. Selected interns will be responsible for managing classroom responsibilities and monitoring student behaviors.
The 2018 Intern Application is now open. Apply here.
